Our Student Achievement goals are: 

  1. Improve students’ literacy and math learning and achievement by:
    • Evidence and data from tools and assessments, and ongoing progress monitoring
    • Consistently applying structured teaching practices that model thinking, use clear and
      sequential explanations, and provide small group instruction
    • Instruction will focus on developing reading fluency, comprehension, and math understanding
    • Ongoing professional learning for educators
  2. Improve students’ graduation rates and preparedness for future success by:
    • Early and ongoing monitoring of student achievement including credit targets at secondary schools
    • Improving Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs to better align with student interests
    • Continue expanding partnerships and community outreach to benefit co-op and other experiential learning placements
    • Monitoring student success in OYAP
    • Supporting Grade 8 to Grade 9 transitions
    • Building understanding around the DDSB's '30 Credits My Way' approach
  3. Improve students’ participation and in class learning by:
    • Supporting belonging, dignity, and high expectations for students in inclusive spaces
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships and connections
    • Finding opportunities for intentional guidance and pathway coaching conversations
  4. Improve student well-being by:
    • Integrating mental health and well-being practices into classrooms
    • Expanding culturally-responsive supports for students and professional learning for staff
    • Partnering with Elders, Knowledge Holders, and community members to provide meaningful land-based and outdoor learning experiences
